What does a Site Chemist do at Oates Environmental?
Our Site Chemists play a vital role in keeping our waste management operations running safely, efficiently and in full compliance with environmental standards.
Based at our Leeds site, they’re responsible for testing materials coming into our ultra-filtration plant to ensure everything is processed correctly. They also help manage the safe receipt, storage and transfer of hazardous waste — making sure all documentation is in order and that materials are handled properly from arrival to final disposal.
Working closely with other teams on site, our Site Chemists help maintain smooth operations by monitoring material flows, minimising backlogs and ensuring we always have the right containers and equipment available. Their attention to detail keeps the lab running safely and cleanly, and their organisation ensures compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
It’s a practical, hands-on role suited to someone with a background in chemistry (HNC or above), who’s confident using IT systems and enjoys working as part of a close-knit, professional team.
